How to use MochiKana?

MochiKana is so simple and easy to use – which makes this part seems useless. However, let’s take a quick tour to see what the website offers.

Pick one alphabet to start with

Hiragana and Katakana actually share the same syllable system. Both have 46 basic characters, with 5 basic vowels a-i-u-e-o, etc. The difference lies within the way they are written and used: While Hiragana is widely used in Japanese, Katakana is mainly used to write borrowed words and foreigners’ names (e.g: coffee = koohii [コーヒー]).

A bit of advice: People usually learn Hiragana first, but no one says you can not do it the other way. Start with the one you like!

  1. I think that is an exciting point, it made me think a bit. Thank you for sparking my thinking cap. Sometimes I get so much in a rut that I just sense like a record.
